The game offers more freedom than your typical on-rails shooter - player one gets a steering wheel as well as a pistol while a second light gun allows player two to concentrate on bagging the bad guys. As the eponymous cop duo it’s down to two players to smash a criminal drug ring by driving really fast and firing at any suspicious-looking vehicles that come into view. Here’s a great arcade game that never got a home conversion, it’s effectively Tango & Cash meets Chase HQ with light guns. It was also one of the best light gun games to be made available on both the SNES and Mega Drive consoles via a surprisingly good conversion by Acclaim, which was re-titled T2: The Arcade Game. Using digitised sets and models from the film, it looked fantastic, and featured a large mounted gun similar to the one from Operation Wolf.
Overall the LCD TopGun is worth checking out.Released to tie in with the spectacular movie sequel, T2 was one of the most impressive arcade gun shooting games of its time, giving gamers the chance to play ‘good guy’ Arnie’s T-800 and mow down countless enemy cyborgs. If you get one I would recommend using a different driver, the one that comes with the installation CD is really bad. In fact I ordered the second one earlier this week and it is supposed to come tomorrow, I cant wait for the two-player action!! You can play lots of different games like Duck Hunt or Hogan's Alley as well as newer games like Terminator 2 and Revolution X. It does take a little time and technical know-how to set it up but in the end it is a great gun. I decided to order one to test and it was awesome.
I had to get one!! (If you want a full review "Click Here" Retro Blast has a great review with lots of pictures). It said it would work with different monitors such as CRT, LCD, Plasma & Projector's, and it was compatible with Mame. I found the LCD TopGun from EMS Production while doing some gaming research and it looked pretty cool. The problem is that most light guns out on the market only work with a CRT monitor or TV. Note: You have to put the CHD files unzipped in their own folder within the rom folder.Īfter you have all of the files and have setup mamewah you should be ready to play!Įver since I built my arcade I wanted a light gun. Step 9: Place all rom, Bios, and CHD files in the C: mame/ roms folder. I had to use BitTorrent to get all of them. Step 8: Download all CHD and Bios files - These files are a little tricky to find. You can also use a torrent utility like BitTorrent. There are lots of different ones, I use a few to get the files I need. Step 7: Download rom files from "Here" or from any rom site. You have to tell mamewah where to find each file. Step 6: Open the mamewah setup utility and set all of the paths to the correct location. I like keeping a shortcut on my desktop since I am continually updating games.
Step 5: Install mamewah setup program to wherever is most convenient. "Click Here" for detailed instructions mamewah. Step 4: Install mamewah to wherever is most convenient the C: drive works the best. It allows you to easily customize mamewah. Step 3: Download mamewah setup program "Here" - This is an awesome tool.
Here is a step by step on How to install Mame with Mamewah: "Click Here" for information on how to customize it anyway you want. It is fully customizable and can play virtually any emulator. Mamewah is my personal choice for a frontend. It is also quick enough to keep up with newer games like Terminator 2, NFL Blitz, and House of the Dead. All of the classic arcade games like Frogger and Dig Dug can be play with the click of a button. Mame is probably the most popular arcade emulator out there.
You can use any emulator you want, the two that I found that worked the best for me are Mame and Mamewah. You need an "emulator" and a " Frontend". If you want to play your favorite arcade games here is what you need to do.
